ADVENTUROUS WORLD of ADJUSTING

Learn How to Identify Hail Damage, Learn How to Scope Storm Damage, Know Xactimate

Homeowners to Contractors

IT'S TIME FOR INSURED'S TO START ACCESSING THEIR STORM DAMAGE

BEFORE INSURANCE BECOMES TO EXPENSIVE TO PURCHASE

Homeowners First
  • This is a regular list item

  • The recourse collection I have put together, will help Homeowners understand and be able to identify storm damage. So that they may access their damage before submitting a claim, or have a good idea on who to call.

Absolute best thing to do is, yourself or someone take a look to access the damage.  Remember, it's kind of hard for a roofer to drive out, climb your roof. Only to say,   "You-Have-No-Damage" Their bread'N'butter is in the sale.

All claims can count against you; Meaning: If you had a claim opened and your adjuster saw no damage, that would be a claim. Or your contractor opened a claim on your behalf and there was no damage, that would be a claim. Some carriers drop insured's after 3 claims in so many years.

Before you or someone else files a claim,  Know your deductible ?

If this is something you just don't want to do or you physically can not, think about a public adjuster, again don't let them steer you wrong. It's hard these days, locating honesty.

All Homeowners should be able to understand the concept of what insurance carriers consider hail damage vs cosmetic damage vs old hail damage vs weather/maintenance issues.

As homes age, regular maintenance becomes essential.

All Homeowners Know if you have coverage for city, county, code upgrades, Meaning: If you do not have endorsement OL which is Ordinance and Law coverage. These mandatory code upgrades will be coming out of your pocket.

    • Usually, You Have 2 Years From  - D.O.L. To File a Claim, Use The Time

    • I've often found myself in situations where I've advised insured's to hold off on filing their claims until the storm season has passed. However, they often choose not to heed this advice. Instead, they rush to initiate repairs, and as a result,

    • I have found myself at the same property 2-3 times with 5 months,

All they had to do was listen

Think about it, your home gets hit by a storm, if nothing is leaking or even if their is,

repair it yourself, keep track of "time and materials" wait.

      You could be saving yourself,

      •  Multiple Deductibles
      • Multiple Claims
      • a Lot of Headaches

Just wait and file the claim just before the allotted time is up.
